Suspension, Termination, Absence and Deferment of
Enrolment
Grounds for suspension or Termination by the College
-
The
board of discipline may on disciplinary grounds suspend a student
from studying for a specified period of no more than one academic
year. In this case, the college shall not refund any fee paid by
the student
-
The
board of Discipline may on disciplinary grounds terminate the
enrolment of any student if he has been issued with three warnings
for general misconduct per academic year or two warnings for
academic misconduct or if he committed gross misconduct as defined
in Section 5 & 6 of the ordinances on student conduct, Disciplinary
Rule and Procedures. In this case, the college shall not refund
any fee paid by the student and his academic transcript shall be
annotated with Expelled.(EXP)

The
college board of examiners, upon the recommendation of the
Departmental Board of Examiners, may on academic grounds require a
student to suspend study for a specified period of no more than one
academic year and ask him to take one unit or more to improve his
standard, providing that the student has previously been consulted
by his academic advisor and in writing warned of the consequences.
In this case, the college shall not refund any fee paid by the
student. The grounds for unsatisfactory academic progress are
A. 10% absence of the contact hours scheduled for a unit
B. Poor participation in tutorial, seminar or project and
C. Any other grounds established by the revelevant departmental
board of examiners

The registrar
shall terminate the enrolment of any student who has been absent
fro more than 20% of scheduled contact hours for a unit after being
warned in writing of the consequences of his absence. In this
case, the tution fee of the unit or a program of study shall not be
refunded, and the student shall pay full tuition fee to reenroll
and his academic transcript shall be annotated with NA (did not
attempt assessment)

The Registrar may
also suspend for a specified period of no more than one academic
year or terminate the enrolment of any student who does not provide
a medical certificate requested by the college Medical Officer to
prove his ability or fitness to continue a program of study. In
either case, the colleges shall not refund any fee paid by the
student.

Students may
suspend study for a specified period of no more than one academic
year with the approval of their financial sponsor and the
Registrar. They are advised to consult the Head of Academic
Department or nominee. In this case, the college shall charge the
student fees calculated on a weekly basis

Students shall not
suspend study less than two, four or eight weeks prior to the
completion of a unit which is delivered during four eight or
sixteen consecutive weeks respectively

Absence of leave is
not normally allowed.

Deferment of
enrolment is not allowed. If a student is unable for any reason to
commence a program of study in the year that he is offered a place,
he must re-apply for entry in any subsequent year. The admission
offer for enrolment at any program of study delivered by the
College shall be valid for two weeks after the date of commencement
of study specified in the offer.
Re-Enrolment
after Suspension, Termination and Withdrawal

A
student whose enrolment has been suspended for a specified period
of no more than one academic year, shall be entitled to resume his
place in the same program of study at the end of the specified
period if he followed the proper procedures for suspension with
the approval of the college and if the college still offers such a
program

A
student, whose enrolment has been suspended on academic or
disciplinary grounds, shall be entitled to resume his place in the
same program of study upon the payment of full fees if the
Selection Committee approves his re-enrolment and the college still
offers such a program.

A
student whose enrolment has been suspended or terminated on medical
grounds, shall be entitled to resume his place in the same program
of study if the selection committee and the college medical officer
approve his re-enrolment and if the college still offers such a
program.

A
student, whose enrolment has been terminated on attendance grounds,
shall be entitled to resume his place in the same program of study
upon the payment of full fees if the selection committee approves
his re-enrolment, and if the college still offers such a program.

A
student whose enrolment has been terminated on disciplinary grounds
shall not be entitled to resume his place. In this case, the
student academic transcript shall be annotated EXP

A
student, whose enrolment has been withdrawn without any charge and
academic penalty, shall be entitled to resume his place in the same
program of study without paying any fee or charge at the
reenrollment if the college still offers such a program.

A
student whose enrolment has been withdrawn with charge and academic
penalty, shall be entitled to resume his place in the same program
of study if he
A. Settles all outstanding fees and / or charges
B. Pays the tuition fee for the current re-enrolment
year
C. Pays a re-enrolment fee of one hundred Omani Rials
D. His re-enrolment has been approved by the Selection
committee of the relevant department, and
E. If the college still offers such a program.
Students
Accommodation Regulations
-
SUC provides
accommodation for the female students, a new accommodation will be
in service by the beginning of the Fall Semester 2007; however, Sur
University College provides female students accommodation with
full transportation to and from college. Additionally, the
accommodations are offering the whole requirement for quite and
warm environment. What more, the students are under qualified
supervision 24 of 7.

The accommodation
fees plus insurance amount are paid once a year and they are not
refundable, insurance is refunded.

The fee amount is
determined by the board of directors.

The accommodation
department in SUC distributes a copy of the students’ accommodation
regulations and discipline to the all students, in order to
organize and maintain a suitable healthy and secure place for them.

The admission
within the accommodation (registration) deals with the conditions
of who will be accepted to be in the accommodation

the student’s behavior inside the accommodation and the role of the
supervision

Learning
resources center regulations and users conduct
The" Term “Learning Resources Center" applies to all services and
facilities provided thereby such as Library, Computer Center and
language laboratory.
These are primarily intended for the use of staff and students of the
Sur University College. Other accredited persons may be admitted.
1- The Learning Resources Centre is normally open from 8.00 am to 3
pm (Saturday to Wednesday).
2- The user of the Learning Resources Centre (Library) must have a
validated SUC ID to Check out reserves and books.
3- Conversation and any other behavior likely to disturb or
inconvenience to other users must be avoided in the reading area.
4-
Smoking, eating, and drinking are forbidden in the Learning Resources
Centre.
5- Dropping litter is forbidden in the Learning Resources Centre, the
computer labs and the language lab.
6-Users must not use mobile phones and other sound equipment.
7-
Books, equipment and furniture must not be damaged in any way.
8-Network Internet services are just for research purposes and must
not be used for other reasons.
9- The number of items which can be borrowed at one time is
limited to two items and for one week period.
10-
Unauthorized removal of a library item shall be regarded as a serious
breach of these Regulations, and the user may be
dealt with
under the College Disciplinary Procedures. However, the Head of the
Learning Resources Centre shall have the
power to
impose a fine of 10 R.O up to 50 R.O. depending on the actual price
of the item.
11- Fines apply for the overdue materials; the fine is 100 baiza
daily for each long loan- term more than one day- book and 100
baiza per hour
for each short loan-loan for just for one day- of library material.
12- Library users must pay the replacement cost of any item issued to
them that is lost or damaged while it is in their
possession.
This replacement cost is equal to the triple of the price of the
original cost of each item.
13- Students must return all loans by the official last day of the
semester. Otherwise, College can withhold their degree
certificate
and marks forms until all loans and any debts have been cleared
14- Loans can be renewed for a further period unless it has been
requested by another reader.
15- Users are responsible for all books and library materials
borrowed in their name. Their responsibility is not transferable
and ends only
when the appropriate return procedures have been completed.
16- Cases and bags may be taken into the Library. But the Library
accepts no responsibility for the loss of any unattended
valuables
17- Laptop computers may be used in the Library.
18- Users must notify in writing the Learning Resources Centre staff
of any changes of address, telephone number and email
19- Reference material may not be borrowed
