Accomplishments
1.
Library Orientation Programs has been conducted to educate the SUC
Community to initiate them in the usage of various available
resources and to get the utmost benefit of the same. The program was
conducted in the month of April, 2009 for two weeks.
2.
Online Database of EBESCO has been introduced. The students and staff
of Sur University College have started to make use of all the
resources available in that database.
3.
Reference Service has been effectively provided to the SUC Community.
4.
The Book Collection has been raised to 2500 in volumes.
5.
The Electronic Book Collection has been increased to 428 in Numbers.
6.
Online Catalogue facility has been extended to the Students and
Teaching faculty of Sur University College.
7.
The Ministry committee’s visit cum check was successfully and
satisfactorily completed in the month of December, 2009.
8.
All the Library books have been catalogued and classified
systematically according to the Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme.
9.
Launched LCD Television and DVD Player (Audio- Visual aids) facility
for the Students and Staff for conducting any research oriented
programs and also to view the effective current international
activities in Business and Information Technology.
10.
The Library continued to provide a valuable borrowing service to all
library members, More than 800 books were issued to library members
and the library processed over 900 renewals.
11.
The library catalogued over 300 new items for borrowing.
12.
The stock of the library has been checked at the end of the each
semester and submitted the report to the registration department.
13.
The library has been managed as prescribed by the standards of the
Sur University College and Oman Accreditation Council.
14.
Provided the Printing facility in all the systems which were
connected with the Information Resource Centre in order to take print
out of various needs of the users of SUC.
15.
The Closed Access System has been developed and maintained for
organizing the library holdings to facilitate the needs of readers,
and responsibly maintained in good order and condition of the
holdings, and of other library equipment and for the protection and
security thereof;
16.
Teaching and Learning Resources committee has been formed and
various issues and matters relating to the library and its services
were discussed and forwarded the recommendations on any changes or
improvements towards it for the consideration by the management.
17.
Effectively coordinated with Bond Official during his visit in the
month of December, 2008 and February, 2009.
18.
Reprographic services have been effectively provided to the students
and Staff of Sur University College.
19.
Provided the effective Internet Browsing facility and Online Public
Access Catalogue facility with the help of Academic Record Management
System for the user Community of SUC.
20.
The SUC library has joined and became an active member of Oman
Private Colleges and Universities Library Network.
21.
Handled effectively the reference queries by the students and staff
of Sur University College.
22.
Launched a Binding Facility to the SUC user community and introduced
a Newspaper achieves section which provides various collections of
Old newspapers for the reference purpose.
23.
Coordination in liaison services with the academics has been done
effectively.
24.
Various online resources like electronic journals, magazines, online
newspapers and electronics books have been introduced.
25.
Effective research support has been provided to the Sur University
College Community for their projects and development.
26.
Actively participated and discussed various matters in the Minister’s
visit which occurred in the month of April, 2009.
27.
Periodical check and Renewal of safety measurements like fire safety
extinguishers for the library.
28.
Subscribed for new serials for SUC like English Forum, Finance &
Development, Annual report of Federal Reserve Bank of New York ad
Economic Policy Review.
