STRUCTURE OF THE FOUNDATION
PROGRAM
General English Overview
The General English courses in the Foundation and Foundation
Extension Programs are based on the guidelines laid down by the Oman
Academic Standards (OAS) and Oman Accreditation Council (OAC), and
carried out under the supervision of our academic partner, Bond
University, Australia. They are designed to encourage students to
think in English and to use English for a variety of social purposes.
The focus is on developing the skill and confidence of students to
use authentic language in real situations. Classroom topics have
been chosen to reflect the needs and interests of students as their
language skills develop. Computer Assisted Language Learning,
Language Laboratory and homework programs are integrated into the
classroom syllabus, providing further opportunities for students to
practice and extend their English skills. Students enter the
Foundation and Foundation Extension Programs at an appropriate level
as determined by the placement test. The support of the Foundation
