Message from the Department Chair

The department of Business Administration was established in the year 2002 as the “Department of Commerce”.  It started with 5 specialties namely; Accounting, Finance and Banking, Management and Marketing, Hotel Management and Tourism and Business Information systems.   In 2004, there was a re-organization of the department and the Business Information systems specialty was transferred to the Information Systems and Technology Department.

In the year 2007, the department was renamed as the Business Administration Department and retained its 4 areas of specialization. The programs are Accounting, Finance and Banking, Management and Marketing and Hotel Management and Tourism.   It is proposed to split the Management and Marketing specialization into two separate specialization streams.  The diploma and bachelor degrees in Management Information System (MIS) are proposed to be started in the academic year 2010-11 onwards.

It has been the department’s endeavor since its inception to deliver quality education with emphasis on the student’s employment potential.  Over the years, many batches of students have graduated from the department and have successfully secured employment in both public and private sector.  We will constantly maintain and improve our efforts in achieving excellence in our teaching and training efforts.

Dr Sajeev Surendranath

Chair of the Department
